Evine AR “Point and Scan” Mobile App
Evine, a leading home shopping channel, partnered with Kentech-U to develop an augmented reality (AR) iOS app that engages users and drives mobile sales.
Our Client
Evine is a multi-channel video retailer delivering interactive shopping experiences. To better serve their growing mobile audience, Evine aimed to create a dedicated AR app tailored for watch collectors.
The Goal
As the second-largest watch reseller after Amazon, Evine wanted to offer customers a virtual “try-on” experience. Kentech-U developed an AR mobile app leveraging FarQR technology, allowing users to scan a code on the TV. The app detects the customer’s wrist and projects 3D models of watches from Evine’s collection, enabling users to visualize size, color, and details from home. Once satisfied, users can make purchases directly through the app.
Our Plan & Process
Kentech-U collaborated closely with Evine’s R&D team, conducting independent research and prototyping to find the optimal AR solution. The development process included:
• Utilizing Sodyo FarQR for scanning technology
• Integrating with iOS via Xcode
• Creating 3D assets using Maya and Substance Painter
• Implementing AR experiences with Unity and Vuforia
The Results
Evine successfully integrated the AR point-and-scan functionality into their mobile app. The first round of testing was a success, and the company is now building a dedicated team to expand AR capabilities for watches and other retail products, enhancing the experience for tech-savvy customers.
