Alzheimer’s Association Mobile App — “Science Hub”
Kentech-U partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to develop a mobile app for iOS and Android, designed to empower volunteers and advocates with accurate, reliable, and engaging educational content.
Our Client
The Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s leading voluntary health organization focused on Alzheimer’s and dementia care, support, education, and research.
For more than 40 years, they have advocated for the 6+ million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, along with their caregivers and families. Their work spans health policy, dementia care initiatives, and public education—providing daily care, information, and support while striving to eliminate the disease.
Our Goal
With over 70 chapters across the United States, the Association needed a creative digital solution to provide stakeholders and the public with timely access to groundbreaking research and expert insights.
By creating a centralized, credible digital resource, the app helps reduce misinformation about Alzheimer’s and dementia, giving users solid, science-based information.
Our Plan & Process
We set out to build a mobile app that delivers digestible, engaging content to volunteers and advocates, enabling them to better support their communities. Built on Contentful, a modern headless CMS, the app is easily managed and updated by the Alzheimer’s Association team.
The project was executed in three phases: discovery, development, and post-launch analytics. Our team used Sketch, InVision, Contentful, and React Native to design the UX, build a content strategy, and craft a seamless app experience.
Post-launch, we continue to support the Association, adding new features for their 25,000+ users.
Key features
- Viewpoints: Quick summaries of key research findings
- Feed Reminders: Notifications to keep users up to date with the latest news
- Advanced Search: Access expert insights on specific topics
- Reference Library: Comprehensive repository of Alzheimer’s Association science and research content
The Results
Since its 2019 launch, Science Hub has been highly successful. With a consistent 5-star rating on the Apple App Store, the app provides more than information—it offers hope.
The Association has also initiated a secondary rollout for internal staff and advocates, while continuing to connect researchers with the public through up-to-date information.
The Alzheimer’s Association’s mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s, and we are proud to help them achieve it.
